Job Description
The Director of Cornerstone Christian Childcare Center will be responsible for overseeing the overall operations of the center, including staff supervision, curriculum design, and program administration. The Director will ensure that all programs align with the center's mission and meet licensing requirements. A deep commitment to Christian principles is essential, as the Director will lead and guide the center in accordance with its statement of faith and directives from the board of directors. Responsibilities
- Maintain and update all center records and handbooks.
- Manage all payments to the center for child care services and ensure prompt payment in accordance with the center policies and procedures.
- Formulate the annual operating budget and submit to the board of directors for approval.
- Administers the finances of the organization according to the budget approved by the board.
- Manage all service contracts for the center and order required items for center operations.
- Order approved materials and supplies for classroom programs and activities.
- Represent the center within the community.
- Establish and maintain a healthy, safe, and enjoyable working and learning environment for staff, parents, children, and visitors.
- Select and recommend classroom curriculum aligned with the statement of faith to the board for approval.
- Maintain the facility in accordance with First Congregational Church lease agreement and center policies, procedures, and licensing standards.
- Prepare all meeting documents for the Cornerstone Christian Childcare Center board of directors meetings and perform any necessary follow up in connection with all board meetings.
- Communicate building needs with employees at the First Congregational Church office.
- Set and oversee a daily cleaning schedule for routine cleaning of rooms and building interior.

- Ensure all enrollment and discharge information is documented, complete and maintained.
- Ensure all records are complete, updated and accurate.
- Assist in ensuring that the Center meets all DHS licensing requirements. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Standards of health and safety (Sanitation)
- Learning environment and curriculum
- Nutrition and food preparation
- Physical safety and well-being of children and staff
- Emergency policies and regulations
- Assist in executing policies and procedures that ensure the well-being of children. This includes but is not limited to:
- Developmentally appropriate curriculum
- Positive behavior management plans
- Safe arrival and departure
- Maintain an environment that is respectful of child and family cultures, values and differences.
- Establish relationships with individual children and families and be responsive to requests, comments and concerns.
- Provide care in classrooms as needed to meet safety and licensing regulations.
- Provide families with information and assistance with community resources.
- Report evidence of suspected abuse/neglect to the Iowa Department of Human Services and the board of directors
- Determine staffing needs, recruits, hires, and releases of employees based on the organization's personnel policies approved by the Board of Directors.
- Responsible for and ensure that the organization's recruitment interview and selectio n policies and procedures are followed.
- Ensure that all newly hired employees complete all paperwork, including satisfactory reference and background checks and receive an orientation and any required training prior to starting employment.
- Lead staff meetings
- Perform annual reviews of staff members.
- Responsible for effectively managing and resolving issues with and between staff, parents and children.
- Supervise staff on an ongoing basis, including the development and implementation of curriculum plans.
- Create appropriate staff schedules to adhere to all state and Center requirements, including staff/child ratios.
- Ensure staff compliance with all Center policies and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with confidentiality requirements and policies.
