Aplington-Parkersburg Community School District:

The communities of Parkersburg and Aplington together form the Aplington-Parkersburg Community School District, which supports Parkersburg Elementary (PreK-2), Aplington Elementary (3-5), Aplington Parkersburg Middle School (6-8), and Aplington Parkersburg High  School (9-12). We have fostered a tradition of academic, fine arts, and athletic excellence over the years. We have partnered with 3 other regional school districts to provide credit for college-level coursework at no cost for our students as well as a shared director to organize career exploration through job shadowing and internship opportunities.

Aplington Parkersburg School Highlights:

• Early educational opportunities: 3-year-old Preschool, 4-year-old preschool, Kaleidoscope (Kindergarten prep program for 5-year-olds).
• Numerous STEM and curriculum enrichments clubs are offered.

• 3 elementary section with an average of 63 students per grade level.
• 91% of the HS students are involved in a HS activity. 75% of the HS students are involved in 2 or more HS activities.
• 57 Junior and Seniors qualified to take college classes at the Western Outreach Center earning 625 college credits.
• College credits earned by our students translated to over $412,933 of savings for our students/parents.

Dollars for Scholars

This organization is affiliated with Scholarship America, which is nationally recognized and gives our students all the more chance for exploring for scholarships. Parkersburg chartered in 1983 and was joined with Aplington in 1993. In 1983 we gave $1,500 in scholarships and in 2018 awards ceremony we gave a total of $99,890 of which $54,940 was to postgraduates of AP. Donations can be made right on the website, under the donations tab.  Our biggest fundraiser is the Mail -A -Thon we do every year at which we have great support from the community and is greatly appreciated. We are "hands-up", not a "hand-out" organization.
