Seventeen years ago, Jeremy Cordes graduated from Aplington-Parkersburg High School and set out to become a pharmacist. A change of heart convinced him to shift gears and study family medicine at Des Moines University, and this summer, he’s returning to his old stomping grounds as a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) at the Unitypoint Clinic in town.
“I knew I wanted to go back to a rural community,” Cordes said. “I kind of went back to medical school with the idea that I wanted to do family practice… I’d kind of talked (that) if the opportunity ever presented itself, I’d love to come back here, and it kind of worked out that way.”
